When your part of tmgroup, you’ll do challenging and exciting work, and be part of an organisation that values performance, quality and innovation. As the HR Business Partner, I support the HR function in line with key business objectives and help deliver our People Strategy.

I work at a strategic and tactical level as a Business Partner and do this by offering pragmatic, proactive and valued advice as well as ensuring attention to detail remains in all operational processes as I am responsible for or end to end HR activities. Day to day I could be involved in recruitment, training, talent management, employee engagement and employee wellbeing. I am our Mental Health first aider too and each day is different. I always feel like I am making a difference to our teams.

Why do I like working at tmgroup?

Everyone at tm is really supportive and eager to help. I always mention to anybody that asks me this question about my experience of coming for my interview here. I sat nervously waiting to be collected (as you do!) and every single employee that walked past me asked me if I had been seen too, did I want a drink, are you okay etc and this was a nice first impression of what a great place to work tmgroup could be.

I wasn’t wrong when I joined and that supportive, friendly and helpful culture remains today. We have very high standards as the customer journey is at the forefront of what we do, meaning that the pace of change is fast, so you are constantly learning and having to adapt.

TM really cares about its employees. Employee engagement and Wellbeing is at the core of our business to help with our performance. It is so important that our employees feel valued and supported. This is very evident in all we do through our People plan which focusses on Wellbeing, Recognition and Engagement initiatives. For me personally it is great to be part of an organisation where this is driven from the senior management.

What advice would I give a new starter?

Ask lots of questions, write everything down, get yourself involved! We will make time for you to be successful in your career, there are plenty of opportunities to progress and develop and to have a say in the organisation. We would really like to hear your suggestions or innovative ideas, we have a suggestion box and a lot of what you will see within the organisation is as a result of employee suggestions or innovation. Be present, engage with our team and enjoy what you are doing.

What do I do outside of work?

I am a Swindon Town football supporter and have been for over 25 years now, I am a trustee of Swindon Town Football in the Community; this is a volunteering role and it is nice to give something back to a community initiative. I have a teenage daughter who as you can imagine keeps me very occupied, it normally involves spending my money or being a Mum taxi, bit I wouldn’t have it another way. I like to read, and I do love anything musical theatre.
